Abstract
The issue of climate change is a hot button all over the world including Bangladesh. It refers to the long-term shift in temperature and whether which has far reaching negative impact on the lives of people of our country. The purpose of this paper is to address the issue of climate change in relation to mitigation strategies and its challenges in the context of Bangladesh society. This paper is basically the review of secondary literature. For this reason, secondary analysis as a research method has been applied in this paper. Data have been analyzed and interpreted from sociological point of view. Findings of the paper discusses that the government of Bangladesh has formulated some policies and programs to adopt low-carbon zone guidelines and a road-map, to switch the alternative renewable energy sources etc. as mitigating strategies of climate change with a view to ensuring sustainable development goal. Unfortunately we do not see the significant ray of hope due to some challenges including policy-reality gap, lack of coordination among the implementing agencies and organizations, top down-bottom up dilemma, lack of monitoring and evaluation, etc. So, the findings of this paper may draw attention to the policy makers to amend existing mitigating strategies of climate change and form new ones.
