Abstract
This session will present a case study of lessons learned during field surveys of energy use, sources and infrastructure in refugee camps and host communities in Rwanda during June to August 2022. Using tablets and Arcgis tools, the field research mapped energy utilization in a sample of two camps and multiple host and other rural communities as part of a National Science Foundation international research experience grant. The surveys showed that field research adds critical ground truth to remote sensing information. This showed potential for visualizing and mapping the impact of energy in natural disaster resilience.
