Description:
Global and Climate Change has increased the frequency and severity of natural disasters and human health impact in the past decade. The coastal lines along Florida, Gulf of Mexico and Carolinas are flooded with tens of billions of asset loss every year. Wildfire happens not only in Washington, Oregon, California but also inner states like Colorado. The worsening air quality kills millions of individuals and causes even more cancer cases worldwide annually. Though community research is being conducted to address the issues. There is an urgent demand for integrating observations and data from satellites, in-situ, social media, wearable sensors, surveys with novel spatiotemporal methods to understand the problems in a spatiotemporal nature for better solutions to the challenges. To address the common needs of spatiotemporal methods for the challenges, we organized this panel to discuss the methodology and tools needed for such geography studies to address such challenges.
