Description:
This session is intended for faculty members, professional geographers, and graduate students who engage in basic geographic and spatial scientific research and who wish to learn about funding opportunities at the National Science Foundation. Program officers from the Human-Environment and Geographical Sciences (HEGS) Program at NSF will highlight both core funding solicitations with HEGS as well as cross-directorate opportunities of interest to geographers. They also discuss fundamentals of the merit review process (but note NSF is hosting an additional session on the NSF review process and panel service) and common pitfalls in proposals submitted to HEGS. Information will include Faculty Early-Career Development (CAREER), Mid-Career Advancement (MCA), RAPIDS, EAGER, Research Experiences for Undergraduates, funding for workshops and supplemental funding opportunities as well as the Doctoral Dissertation Improvement (DDRI) program of interest to PhD students.
