Nostalgia projects one's worldview, including memory and cognition. When people have nostalgia in their hearts, it means that they feel out of place. The uncomfortable may be caused by environmental change, so the discussion of nostalgia is useful for people to identify boundaries. Boundary encompass many aspects, and this study focus on cultural boundary. Due to Taichung's history through Qing Empire, Japan to Republic of China(Taiwan) , Taichung old city centre, the most important city in Central Taiwan, has also developed into a culturally diverse built-up area. This study realizes there are many different forms of nostalgia in Taichung old city centre. Residents have different nostalgia for different cultures and different spaces, and memory in space is fragmented during the process of urban development. This study has a preliminary understanding of what nostalgia looks like in the old city centre. However, what impact does this kind of nostalgia like stained glass have on community networks and urban development? Based on Assemblage Urbanism, This study collects the views from local residents by semi-structured interviews and analyzed the effect of nostalgia on the urban governance of Taichung old city centre.
