Abstract
Colorado has seen high levels of migration since the later part of the 20th century. It has been the focus of much literature on migration and resulting economic development in the Inter-Mountain West. A portion of this migration has been driven by the attraction of the state's well-known natural amenities, providing ample opportunities for hiking, camping, climbing, fishing, and others, and to engage in a type of idealized idyllic lifestyle of solitude and natural beauty. However, this migration has tapered off in recent years.
This research asks the question of what factors most drive migration to Colorado in the 5-year period of 2015-2020. In addition, I ask to what extent natural amenities played a role in attracting migrants to Colorado, and if any change accompanies the migration's decline.
