The Coastal and Marine Specialty Group of the AAG presents the 2023 R.J. Russell Award Winner. The award is presented in recognition of an individual's major contributions to the field of coastal or marine geography. These contributions may be in research, teaching, public service, and/or to the specialty group.
The 2023 Award Recipient is Dr. Jean Taylor Ellis who will be delivering her lecture titled:
"Management Challenges in the Dynamic Beach-Dune Environment"
Dr. Ellis received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2006 and held a position at NASA’s Applied Science Program at Stennis Space Center prior to joining the faculty at South Carolina in 2009. She was a 2014 Fulbright Scholar at LABOMAR – Universidade Federal do Ceara and is a former John A. Knauss Fellowship alumnus. She is a Professor at the University of South Carolina.
