Description:
These sessions propose to address some of the issues raised by collaborative mapping projects that involve memories and knoweldges. They are positioned at the intersection between collaborative mapping and memory mapping. Mapping past experiences often involve a co-creation process between those who hold the memories and the knowledges and those who are engaged in their cartographic interpretation and expression. This co-creation process raises questions around positionality, power relationships, political tactics, community empowerment, technological means and data ownership. It also involves exploring new forms of spatial expressions that can somehow integrate or at least reflect on the influence of these multiple issues on the mapping process and on the meaning of its outcomes. These sessions aim to bring together papers addressing the theoretical, methodological, ethical, practical or technical issues raised by collaborative mapping projects that involve memories and knoweldges.
