Description:

This workshop will be targeted primarily for students in attendance. We aim to conclude this session with two goals: to empower students to find new applications for their geography interests and to provide networking opportunities aligned to civically-oriented peers. In this 90-120 min session, we will focus on the question of “What are our privacy rights to location in the Digital Age”. trubel&co will provide some slides to root the group in common understanding, encourage discussion through interactive data sets and starting questions, and conclude with some opportunities to continue beyond the workshop. Potential surface areas we can explore, through student interest, include:

Health profiling via zip code
Taking up space and finding place in the metaverse
Tracking citizens via traffic cameras
Using public data to extrapolate private data
