Description:
In 2019, transport accounted for 15 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, and the sector’s emissions growth in recent decades has been faster than any other. While advances have been made in decarbonizing some modes of transportation, for others – especially maritime shipping and aviation – progress has been more elusive. Beyond atmospheric emissions, transport and logistics are associated with a variety of other negative externalities at scales ranging from the local to the global. Sustainably meeting the mobility aspirations of a growing world population is a profound and deepening challenge. Simultaneously, the volume of goods coursing through international trade networks has continued to grow, further straining ecological limits.
This in-person session is for papers dealing with the environmental implications, socioeconomic impacts, and/or spatial dynamics of any mode of transport or dimension of logistics.
