Description:
A Community-based health intervention has long been defined as any intervention, policy, program, or action aimed at improving health and reducing health inequalities for individuals living in high-risk neighborhoods or areas with limited geographical resources and high-risk individuals with underlying diseases.
Health initiatives at the local level look to improve health outcomes. However, there are methodological and theoretical gaps in how to design local-based studies and methods for evaluating place-based initiatives and the contexts in which initiatives were implemented and evaluated. This session examines a variety of local-based health initiatives and research methodologies to improve and understand the resilience of vulnerable communities facing the challenge of unequal resource distribution and environmental burdens.
