Abstract
This poster will examine the Los Angeles watershed. It will focus on the Los Angeles river contamination from upriver water sources including the contribution from Jet Propulsion Laboratory & Santa Susana Field Laboratory. The Los Angeles region is heavily reliant on groundwater resources as water is a limited commodity. It is important to assess the possible contamination of an essential resource that provides a population of almost 4 million people. With data from the Department of Toxic Substances Control, I utilized GIS to spatially analyze contamination sites in the vicinity of the study area. This project also conducted brief interviews with Los Angeles residents to assess the awareness of large contamination sites within participants' local areas that were possibilities for additional contamination involving the Los Angeles river.
