Abstract
The Valley of Tears Battle was a key engagement in the Yom Kippur War, which began when Egypt and Syria initiated a surprise attack against Israel in October 1973. The four-day battle resulted in a Syrian withdrawal and an Israeli victory. Using the Environmental Matrix (a geographic analysis framework), this paper examines the primary physical and cultural geography factors that influenced the outcome of the battle.
