Abstract
The emergence of virtual realities during the global pandemic of this decade, marks a turn in the very nature of intellectual geographical communities. Traditionally, schools of geographical ideation thrive through the matrix of educational institutions and that reality remains fundamental. Meetings of Geographers in venues such Scholarly Associations provide a venue whereas diverse strands of geographical understanding come together. This paper investigates the emergence of schools of geographical thought through the internet. Special attention is directed to Social Media, such a facebook and Twitter but also to Zoom and other teleconferencing media which have allowed for the formation of new communities of geographical interest.
