Abstract
My research quantifies the change of irrigation and land cover in nine municipalities in the western region of Bahia based on a time series of annual maps from 1985 to 2022. I wrote a computer program in the Google Earth Engine to compute the annual gross losses and gains of irrigated areas based on MapBiomas’ Collection 8 land use and land cover maps. The results allow us to understand the areas of natural vegetation or already existing agriculture being converted to irrigated agriculture.
