Abstract
Future changes in climate will significantly transform U.S. agriculture—both through changes in yield potential and through the resulting shifts in the production geography of many crops. Understanding the likely trajectories of rural land use change is a prerequisite for identifying the effects of climate change on agricultural economies, food security, rural society, and the environment. This work creates high resolution projections of the production geographies of major U.S. crops, advancing efforts to predict how changing climate will transform agricultural landscapes.
