Abstract
Accurate evaluation of the public transportation transit network is necessary for formulating scientific planning strategies and management of modern cities. Public transportation related data have been massively accumulated in the big data era with the changing expectations of public transportation users and their increasing expectations on a reduction of both the preparation and travel time, an easier and more pleasant travel experience as well as travel route plans and the growing volume of transportation assets. Consequently, a custom-built web application with a data platform to have certain related data inputted and processed into visualized information on a web-based map is then developed for decision-making support and operation assistance.
The data platform is integrated in a web application aiming to provide convenience for decision makers with processed and visualized data to support their decision-making procedure. A case of public transportation network evaluation applied in Houston is then presented to demonstrate the usability of the web application. This traffic evaluation application can help to evaluate current public transportation network and may further support decision-making and operational optimization in studied area.
