Abstract
This guided poster presents the results of a multi-year study of the use of both team-based learning and open educational resources in an undergraduate World Regional Geography course. Students were surveyed at the beginning and end of the course about their perceptions of team-based learning and open educational resources and the results of these surveys suggest there is a significant impact of actually using open materials in the classroom on student perception. Furthermore, results indicate that students who engage in team-based learning have a significantly more favorable perception of it and have a better understanding of how it fits within the course goals. This work aligns with previous research on both team-based learning and open educational resources and presents disciplinary-specific statistical analysis of their efficacy and a framework for how instructors might incorporate these approaches in their own courses.
