Abstract
This study proposes to examine the intersection of climate change education and public opinion in K-12 social studies standards across all 50 US states and the District of Colombia. A variety of climate keyword searches are utilized to examine state social studies standards for inclusion of climate change language and frequency of use. Public opinion data in relation to support for education on global warming is retrievable from the Yale institute on climate change. The resulting analysis of the two data sets will determine any statistically significant correlations that may be present between states that included climate change language standards in their social studies standards and public support for global warming education. Anticipated results are to see disparities of meaningful inclusion of climate standards between states of different governing ideologies, demographics, and costal states.
