In this research, I explore the growth of solar energy projects in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, focusing on key developments and community responses over the past two decades. Using a timeline I developed from media coverage, archival documents, and county public meeting records, I map out major milestones and setbacks in the region’s transition to renewable energy. A central focus of this study is the proposed solar farm development spanning over 700 acres, along with insights from local stakeholders, including farmers, residents, and government representatives.
The research examines challenges such as zoning disputes, environmental regulations, and public concerns about land use, while also highlighting the economic opportunities these projects present. By analyzing stakeholder perspectives and local policy evolution, this study provides a nuanced understanding of how solar energy initiatives are reshaping rural communities like Northumberland County.
