Abstract
Economic and political stability in the Holy Land often depended on the maritime transportation system between Israel and empires like Rome and Egypt. This paper will discuss major and minor trade routes and their impacts on Blue Economies in and around the Holy Land. First, it will identify the major waterbodies that connected the Holy Land to other empires. Second, it will identify the Ports and cities that thrived from the maritime trade and transportation. Third, we will discuss the Holy Land's foreign commerce including the primary goods, services, and people transported between the empires. Fourth, technological advancements in shipping impacted the vessel types ranging from small personal watercrafts, to fishing vessels, to naval ships. Finally, we will explore the mapping techniques were used to analyze and illustrate the seas and their influence on the maritime transportation systems. Factors like geopolitical conflict, supply and demand, technological advancements and climate change continue to impact the security, efficiency, and sustainability of the trade routes. Case studies will focus on Israel, Egypt, Rome, Greece, Lebanon, and Assyria.
