Description:
A changing climate and pervasive impacts on populations amidst uneven global development and societal inequities warrant multi-disciplinary solutions centered on systemic change and justice. The notion of climate justice emerged as an ethical dimension, approach, and movement to raise questions, develop principles, and form actions to redress root causes of climate change and drivers of societal vulnerabilities. As a lens, it guides pathways for critical praxis of research, activism, and teaching. In this virtual session, we highlight the importance of climate justice as a motivator and thought provoker for interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate climate research and education. Specifically, we seek to elevate research and experiences that reflect a spectrum of climate justice-related topics within the various subfields of geography and other interdisciplinary fields.
