Abstract
Massachusetts has been taking measures in order to decarbonize the electric grid and has been investing in solar farms. However, the solar energy management in the state has not been efficient enough to prevent deforestation and find appropriate land to install new solar farms. This research aims to understand how the development of solar farms in Massachusetts has influenced deforestation in Massachusetts between 2000 and 2021 by using Landsat data from MassGIS and deep learning.
