Abstract
H-E-B is an American supermarket chain from San Antonio, Texas. The company opened its first location in 1905, and has since scattered over 420 stores across the United States and the northeast of Mexico. The only locations currently in the DFW area are in Frisco, Waxahachie, Ennis, Burleson, Corsicana, Cleburne, Granbury, and Hudson. There are also locations coming soon to McKinney, Allen, Plano, and Mansfield. Growing up in southern Dallas, shopping at H-E-B was never a realistic option, as the closest one was always at least half an hour away without traffic. Seeing how people lined up down the street when the newest location in Frisco opened, I am confident that, if properly placed, the reception in southern Dallas would be equally as strong, if not stronger. By analyzing the demographics surrounding current stores, I intend to identify the desirable characteristics for H-E-B stores. This analysis will drive my ability to identify areas with comparable demographics, and therefore a suitable southern Dallas location for the store.
