Abstract
The need for renewable energy is continually increasing as global energy demand continues to rise. Environmental sustainability which borders on reducing carbon emissions, environmental pollution and mitigate climate change has become a central theme. Berry corporation, an upstream oil and gas company, is mindful of the impacts of their field operations on stakeholders and communities and are committed to responsible and environmentally friendly operations. The company believes that transitioning to solar energy for their field operations will substantially reduce their GHG emissions and carbon intensity. This project involves a spatial assessment of suitable areas for two solar farm projects using GIS techniques and based on a wide range of information that maximize profitability and minimize environmental risks.
