Abstract
For the last 6 years the National Park Service and the University of Colorado Denver, Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences have been working on a cooperation agreement that places students as interns in the Resource Information Services Division (RISD) office and in the Abandoned Mineral Lands (AML) group. Students work on addressing geospatial information needs and technical support for parks around the nation. This presentation summarizes the lessons learned so far in terms of managing the cooperation agreement, impacts within the NPS, and the effects of these professional experiences on the students’ formation, education, training, and careers.
