Abstract
Local communities and their folkloric heritage-based livelihoods (FHbL) are affected due to climate change. Several studies of adaptation strategies on agriculture, fisheries, and livestock and their determinants are available in urban and rural Bangladesh. However, the studies still need to address the determinants of nature-based solution (NbS) strategies on FHbL and barriers to climate action. Therefore, this research aims to understand how inclusive nature-based solutions (NbS) could restore ecosystem services to reduce the impacts of climate change on FHbL. The study likewise seeks to inform an effective and sustainable framework in scaling up nature-based solution (NbS) policies for alleviating the harsh effects of climate change on FHbL. This research follows the textual analysis methodological approach. This textual analysis of theories, policies, and practices of nature-based solutions explores the prospects of reducing the impacts of climate change and recovering FHbL. This study argues that new theoretical concepts are needed in scaling up NbS policies to enhance the resilience of livelihoods, restore ecosystem services, and build an adaptive ability to climatic changes for FHbL in Bangladesh. In conclusion, this study concludes that NbS are vital for planning an effective adaptation policy in building resilient local economies and reducing inequalities in paying attention to the needs of local communities and safeguarding their folkloric heritage and ecosystem services.
