Abstract
This presentation reviews opportunities and challenges of open science and reproducibility in movement research in GIScience. With the increasing availability of movement data at both aggregate and individual trajectory forms, it is important to understand how GIScience research can leverage these valuable sources of data to advance understanding of movement across human mobility and animal movement ecology applications, while pushing for open science and reproducible approaches. However, the sensitive nature and heterogeneity of movement data create methodological challenges around data representation, data integration, data sharing, and privacy. In this presentation, I first review contributions to open movement data science. With some examples of my work, I highlight opportunities and challenges faced to make movement research open and reproducible.
