Description:
Tourism has always had a strong connection to arts and culture with destination promotion often utilising place-based assets and activities related to the arts and culture sector. However, in many places, the benefit for arts and culture of having a local tourism sector has been less obvious. Where benefits have been identified they have tended to be of a more transactional nature.
This session invites papers that discuss the nexus of tourism, arts, and culture in communities. Topics for papers may include, but are not limited to:
i. creative tourism
ii. collaboration between artists and tourism operators
iii. place-based assets that are resources for arts, culture, and tourism
iv. community-led approaches to arts, culture, and tourism development
v. changing relationships between local arts, culture and tourism stakeholders
vi. opportunities for arts, culture, and tourism to support inclusive community policies
