Abstract
The City of Palmetto Florida Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) received funds to restore a brownfield into a city park called Connor Park. In this study a survey gauged local community’s understanding of the brownfield restoration to engage the community in the restoration efforts. The data was collected face to face during the spring of 2019. Some of the information elicited related to the way the future utilization of the park after restoration, perception about water quality, the understanding of the brownfield restoration efforts, and the demographics of the participants. The results show that the majority of the respondents have good grasp of the water quality in the county. They would like to see the park developed into walking trail among other things. Many strongly believe that the brownfield site should be converted into a park and they indicated that it is extremely important or very important.
