Abstract
This research explores the ways in which municipalities have the potential to strengthen urban agriculture projects, local food systems, increase food access, and prevent green gentrification and displacement by providing city owned agriculture spaces. Using Denver as a case study, I examine the impacts of two different urban agriculture projects on the surrounding community using an environmental justice lens. This research is intended to continue our understanding of how urban agriculture projects are capable of increasing community access to healthy, affordable, and culturally relevant foods, while increasing urban food production and lowering emissions from food production and transportation.
