This session features back-to-back plenary presentations by two leading geographic information science scholars. The first is by Elizabeth Delmelle, delivering the Eighth Transactions in GIS Plenary, which showcases the best work by geographers in advancing the fundamental guiding principles and impact of geographic information science. The second is by Robert Roth, delivering the Waldo Tobler Distinguished Lecture in GIScience, sponsored by the AAG's Geographic Information Science and Systems Specialty Group (GISS SG), in honor of Waldo Tobler, who made a series of seminal contributions on analytical cartography over a career spanning more than 40 years.
